Barker Inlet Power Station, SA
Caporn Piling played a key role in the development of the Barker Inlet Power Station, a cutting-edge gas-fired reciprocating engine power station near Adelaide, South Australia. The facility provides 211 MW of smart, fast-starting power, supporting the state’s growing reliance on renewable energy.
Project Scope
Piling Specifications:
Installation of 1,450 CFA piles, each 600mm in diameter and up to 21 meters deep.
Conducted one sacrificial static load test to ensure structural integrity.
Performed 5% PDA tests and 10% PIT tests for quality assurance.
Equipment Used:
Drill Rigs: 2 x Bauer BG28.
Concrete Pumps: 2 x crawler-mounted units for efficient delivery.
Project Highlights
Delivered robust and efficient foundation solutions to support 12 high-efficiency reciprocating engines.
Supported the construction of infrastructure critical to South Australia’s energy transition.
Completed the project in collaboration with the Primero Group, contributing to the broader $475 million investment in Torrens Island’s energy projects.
At Caporn Piling, we’re proud to provide the foundation for projects that shape the future of Australia’s energy landscape.Supporting South Australia’s energy transition with highly efficient and responsive technology.
