Mackay Ring Road – Stage 1

Caporn Piling proudly delivered specialist foundation solutions for the Mackay Ring Road – Stage 1, a critical 11.3km bypass designed to improve road safety, efficiency, and connectivity. By diverting heavy vehicle traffic away from Mackay’s city centre, this project enhances local, regional, and national travel networks while providing a flood-immune route free of signalised intersections.

Project Scope

Caporn Piling’s contribution involved:

  • Installation of 412 precast concrete (PSC) driven piles (550mm diameter, up to 38m long, spliced) for 13 bridge structures.

  • Piles installed in both vertical and raked configurations.

  • 15% PDA testing and 100% PDM monitoring to ensure quality and performance.

Equipment Utilised

  • Woltman Rig with 10t and 16t hammers for precise pile driving.

  • 110T Crawler Crane for lifting and support operations.
